Wicked vertigo plays havoc with my weekend.

By Olivene Godfrey

It started Friday and by Saturday, I was staggering from positional vertigo, a spinning sensation of the ear caused by problems of the inner ear. It can be triggered by any action which stimulates the posterior semi-circular canal which may be: tilting the head, rolling over in bed, looking up or under, sudden head motion and post head injury.

Vertigo may be made worse by any number of modifiers which may vary between individuals: changes in barometric pressure, patients often feel symptoms about two days before rain or snow. lack of sleep, and stress.

This vertigo I'm suffering from now was probably caused when I realized I had oversleep Friday morning and rolled over and jumped out of bed and rushed to the bathroom.

Two treatments have been found effective for relieving symptoms of vertigo, according to research Barry did for me. I may have my doctor check these out for me as I HATE feeling this way.

See you next time.

V.A widow pension lifts my spirits & thoughts on booster shot and more

By Olivene Godfrey,

The U.S. Department of Veterans approved my claim for a U.S veteran’s widow's pension and it has already started paying now. I'll use it for Tam's pay. I heard about the pension from my good friend, Genevelyn. And I applied for the pension at the local V.A office. A nice lady, Judy, assisted me with the claim several months ago. Then, last week son Barry received a phone call advising him that my V.A. claim had been approved and all of my previous payments to Tam had been deposited in my bank account. I told Tam that she can be my caregiver for the rest of my life and she was happy, too. I won't need to worry now about running out of funds and losing Tam.
Yes, God is good.

                --------------------------------------

I was able to get a booster shot for my anemia last week.
And I hope it becomes effective shortly and I will have more energy.

                --------------------------------------

We're having a rainy spell and no sunshine. The cold damp wind penetrates my arthritic bones. I am ready for some more sunshine.

                --------------------------------------

When Barry and I went to Calhoun for the booster shot, Tam drove me to Barry's Dalton shop to meet him, it saved some  time for us. Tam and I had both wanted to see Kym at the shop but she was with a client. We did meet the shop's new Secretary, pretty Sheila. (All of the shop's ladies are pretty.)

See you next time.

I'll find out this week if I'm now eligible for a booster shot for my anemia & am enjoying new CD & pretty pix of The Ladies.

By Olivene Godfrey

We're having a cold spell today and son Barry and I had tentative plans to eat lunch at a restaurant but "Best laid plans..."
I woke up feeling weak and achy and stayed in bed longer than usual and Barry reminded me that I do have anemia. But, my blood test last week showed that I'm eligible for a booster shot. I'll check with blood doctor's office tomorrow.

I have been enjoying listening to a Southern Gospel CD that Barry's co-worker and our friend. Kym. gave me for Christmas and was recorded by the Homeland Singers of which Kym and her sister, Denise, harmonize beautifully. The songs are uplifting and happy and I listen to the CD often.

Kym also gave me a copy of a picture of myself with the pretty "ladies" as Barry calls them which was made at Barry's shop's Christmas party. Kym gave me an enlarged copy of the picture which is beautifully framed. I have it displayed on the table beside by my recliner.

Kym's mother, Peggy, gave me a rice bag which I had never heard of and Barry researched it on the web and found out the rice bags heated in the microwave sooth away aches and cramps of the neck, wrist, stomach and aching muscles. It really works, too. If you would like to make your own rice bag you can find complete instructions om the Internet.

See you next time.

Comments on my favorite gospel song, "In the Garden".. & state of my health today

By Olivene Godfrey

I've mentioned to you all several times the past year that I have a form of anemia that has no cure but can be treated with regular boaster shots. I was getting these shots from a blood doctor which helped me function. Then, under Medicare's new guidelines, I was no longer eligible for the shots. I feel tired all the time now no matter how much rest I have.  I am going to have a blood test this week as I am feeling very tired this weekend.

"In the Garden"is a gospel song written by C, Austin Miles * 1868-1946 who worked as editor and manager at Hall-Mack publishers for 37 years. According to Miles' great-granddaughter, the song   written in "a cold dreary and leaky basement in New Jersey that didn't even have a window in it let alone a view of a garden. "

The song was first published in 1912 and popularized during the Billy Sunday evangelistic campaigns of the early 20th century by two members of his staff. Homer Rodeheaver and Virginia Asher.

Although this fact has been largely forgotten, Miles intended it as an Easter song; the speaker of the poem is Mary Magadlene.

The song has been recorded by several singers over the years.

It is my favorite gospel song and I have requested that it be sung at my funeral.

I'll try to write more when I am feeling better.

Please pray for me.

See you next time.

Looking back on the past week.

    By Olivene Godfrey
The sad event of the week, was the death of Sue Little, the beloved mother of my caregiver and friend, Tam. She had cancer but was doing well. Tam and her family are heartbroken and need your prayers to help them with this difficult sad time.

             ---------------------------------

Son Barry and I enjoyed Christmas dinner at my sister,Jeanette’s Dalton home.  Most of the great-grand children are teenagers and the small ones have really grown since we had seen them. It was an enjoyable day. Son Barry roasted a Butterball turkey roast which was delicious and we ate it for meals the rest of the week.

              ---------------------------------------

Tam gave me a Christmas gift which I treasure. She had a small photograph of my late husband, Ralph and myself that was made on our 50th wadding anniversary, enlarged and beautifully framed.  Barry hung it on the den wall in a prominent place.  And all visitors to the house have commented on the picture.

           ----------------------------------------

Barry's pretty co-worker, Kym, and her mother, Peggy, came by one day last week for a visit. I had never met Peggy and enjoyed their visit. They brought me lunch ad stayed a while to chat.  When Kym returned to work, Peggy stayed a while and visited me while I ate lunch. Tam was with her family all week but came to see me one day. She is just heartbroken and it hurt my heart to see her deep sadness. Sometimes it is hard to understand why bad things happen to good people. Please remember her in your prayers.

See you next time.
