Bad and good luck--Son Barry sugar free diet pays off--
Bought freezer and discovered when opening carton, it had been damaged & he returned to store--strong storms in northwest Georgia topples trees and power outages but we escaped worst of it.

By Olivene Godfrey,

Son Barry has been on sugar free diet since our family doctor cautioned him about eating too many sweets. In just a short time, he lost enough weight to get his flat tummy back. I had sampled the goodies he brought home and I went on diet too. I have lost a few pounds but need to lose more. I intend to stay on the diet from now on. Being a diabetic, I was supposed to have been on it, anyway. My blood sugar readings have been normal but might not if I hadn't stop eating the sweets.

You don't have to deprive yourself if you have a sweet tooth as Barry and I do. So many sugar free delicious desserts and cookies are available at bakeries now. You do need to read the list of ingredients. Barry brought home two cartons of sugar free low fat ice cream that was delicious. But,I felt uncomfortable after eating it. Barry read the list of ingredients and a warning that the product could have a laxative effect. So, read the list in fine print even if you need a magnifying glass.

Some days it seems as if we get up on the wrong side of the bed and we have bad luck. Last Saturday, Barry and a friend went to Dalton and Barry bought a freezer. Barry's friend had driven his truck so they brought it home. When Barry opened the carton, he discovered the freezer was damaged and he and friend returned it and Barry got a refund. He was tired and said he would look somewhere soon for another freezer.

That night just as we sat down at table to eat supper a storm with high winds struck and our power went out. It was off several hours. The next day we discovered that Northwest Georgia had storms that night and trees were toppled and power outages were widespread. That afternoon Barry drove to Dalton to do some shopping at the mall. Some of the stores were still without power and trees were down. Later,we heard that the winds in the storms were clocked at 75 miles per hour in some parts of the area. Since we were spared the worst of the storms , that was good luck. And, we thank God for that.

See you next time.
