DOCTOR VISITS AND MORE ON BOOK DEAL

July 29, 2013

By Olivene Godfrey

I've had a busy week and am very tired as I write this blog (Saturday afternoon).  All of my ailments are acting up, this weekend as I try to relax before another busy week coming up.

I was thinking today about the ordeal Tam and Barry have to go through to transport me from the house and again when we reach our destination.  I am not able to walk without the aid of a walker.  Getting in and out of the car is torture for me and Barry or Tam.  Friends often tell Barry that I need to get out more often.  They don't understand how difficult it is for us to leave the house.

I think sometimes of kristofferson,s song, "Why me Lord."  I am so blessed to have Barry and Tam, for all the things they do for me and for other people who are so good to me.  So, I often think, why me Lord and what did I do to deserve these blessings.

I saw my eye doctor last week and after my eyes had been tested he said my eyes are fine following my recent eyelid surgery.  I was concerned about some bruising I still have under my eyes.  He said since I have fair skin the bruises take longer to fade.  I have received a lot of compliments about my appearance since my blue eyes are visible again.  But, best of all, my vision is better.  I return for a follow-up appointment in a month.

I recently had Tam's daughter, Carrie cut and style my hair.  It feels and looks so much better.

I saw my primary care doctor last week for a check-up, and she changed one of my medicines which I hope will help my COPD, which has been bothering me lately.  I go back for a re-check in a month.

This week I have a dental appointment for cleaning and check-up.  I hope I'll have no problems.

I also saw my blood doctor last week.  My blood test was great and I didn't need a booster shot.  That was good news.  I return to his clinic in six months.

I'm still excited about my book being published last week by Amazon.  Tam, my editor as well as my caregiver, secretary and friend, has been helping Barry and myself negotiate a paper back deal.  If you own a Kindle, you can buy and read the novel "Seasons" now.  I have three more novels I hope to have published.  I hope and pray that I live to see it happen.

See you next time.  (As told to Tam)

MY NOVEL "SEASONS" HAS BEEN PUBLISHED AND IS FOR SALE ON LINE

July 18, 2013

By Olivene Godfrey

Tam, my caregiver, and secretary and now editor, worked hard to prepare my novel, "Seasons" for publication, and son Barry assisted also.

The title is from the Biblical verse, "To every thing there is a season, and a time for every purpose under the heaven...."  Set in north Georgia, the story focuses on four mature persons who are drawn together at a crucial period in their lives, although the novel has a serious theme, it isn't without humor.  I've tried to create three dimensional characters, marred by imperfection but nonetheless likable.  The plot of the novel grows out of characterization and motivation.  (Published by Amazon, Kindle)

See you next time.  (As told to Tam)

MORNINGS IN MOUNTAIN COUNTRY & REFLECTIONS ON JULY FOURTH HOLIDAY WEEKEND

July 8, 2013

By Olivene Godfrey

After breakfast, Barry pushed me in my wheelchair out to the patio.  He had put fertilizer on the plants a week or so ago and the rains and sunshine have the plants thriving.  The early morning sun came out and rain drops glistened on the flowers and very green plants.  The sound of birds singing loudly filled the air.  The country morning has its own sound and I thanked God for giving me this time on earth.

On the fourth of July, we had a cookout and Barry cooked steaks.  I hadn't eaten any red meat in about a year.  But, Barry cooked to perfection two filet mignon steaks.  I ate about half of a steak and it digested well, so I may eat more beef in the future.

The next day, Tam, bless her, came over, although she was still on her holiday, and helped me take a shower and shampooed and set my hair.  As I say often, Tam is a precious jewel.  Meanwhile, a friend of Barry's came over for a visit and they were talking in Barry's media room.

Then, Kym, Barry's co-worker and our friend, came over from Dalton, and she and I had a nice chat in my bedroom suite.  Kym had only seen me with droopy eye lids that caused me to see through small eye slits.  So, she was startled, and pleased, to see me with big blue eyes.  So far, I have healed well except for bruising scars under my eyes, which I hope will fade away soon.  When the scars are gone, I will have Barry make a new picture of me.

See you next time.  (As told to Tam)
